No Co-Payment for MOVE! Weight Management Counseling
To protect your health, VA is screening every veteran receiving VA healthcare for excess weight. For those of you who are at risk for weight related diseases, VA offers weight management care through the MOVE! Weight Management Program for Veterans.
Some veterans have to make co-payments for their VA healthcare. For those who make these co-payments, we know these costs make it hard to participate in MOVE!. Therefore, VA has changed the federal regulations to eliminate the co-payments for MOVE! weight management counseling. As of June 16, 2008 there is no longer a co-payment charge for MOVE! weight management counseling whether you are seen in an individual visit or in a group. The law governing co-payment elimination can be found in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) - 38 CFR 17.108(e)(12).
The bottom line is that by keeping your weight in a healthy range you can avoid some serious diseases, enjoy a more active lifestyle, and be there for your family and loved ones. VA wants to help you do this, and we are trying to make this as easy as possible through MOVE!. We want to invest in your future and your health by providing this care without extra charges.
