Connecting Accounts
What is meant by Connecting Accounts?
Connecting Accounts is a process that allows a user to enter one username and password in order to go to more than one web site.
For example, a DS Logon Premium account is a secure identity credential that Veterans and service members can use to sign in to several websites like VA.gov and My HealtheVet with one username and password. This is called a single sign-on.

How do I get a DS Logon Premium Account

Make sure you are enrolled in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS).

Go to the DS Logon self-service website and click on the More DS Logon Options button. From the choices that appear, select Need a DS Logon?

Choose how you want to register.

The registration tool will walk you through the sign-up process for your account and will prompt you to upgrade to a Premium account through an online process.
What can I do if my accounts do not match?
You should check your personal information in My HealtheVet against what is in DEERS.

To verify your information or request a change to your personal information in DEERS you can visit the DEERS homepage

To ensure your personal information in your VA health record is correct, contact the Eligibility Office at your local VA medical center

If you are registered in My HealtheVet as a VA Patient and your personal information in your My HealtheVet account needs to be changed, go to Contact Us
Can I use my DS Logon Premium account to connect to My HealtheVet?
Yes, you can use your DS Logon Premium account to connect to My HealtheVet via the Sign in with My HealtheVet page.
Is there anything that could prevent me from connecting my accounts?
Yes, there are things that could prevent your accounts from connecting. Your accounts will only connect if you meet the following:

You must be registered as a VA Patient in My HealtheVet

You must have an active DS Logon Premium Account

If your full name, Social Security Number (SSN), date of birth (DOB) or gender has changed since being in the military, your information must be updated in DEERS

Your personal information (full name, SSN, DOB or gender) in your My HealtheVet account must match what is in DEERS
Once I connect my accounts how do I sign out?
To sign out, select the Log Out button on the Member Sign out Box located on the My HealtheVet homepage.
If I have a DS Logon Premium account will it automatically upgrade my My HealtheVet account?
No, having a DS Logon Premium account does not automatically upgrade your My HealtheVet account to Premium.
If you are enrolled in a VA health care facility, have registered as a VA Patient in My HealtheVet, and have a DS Logon Premium account, you may upgrade your My HealtheVet account online. To do this, use your DS Logon Premium account to sign in to My HealtheVet and select the Upgrade Now button.
Can anyone upgrade their My HealtheVet account online?
Not necessarily. To upgrade your My HealtheVet account online, you need to:

be registered as a VA Patient in My HealtheVet

have a DS Logon Premium Account

have your My HealtheVet account information (full name, SSN, DOB and gender) exactly match what is in DEERS
If I go to another website will I get timed out?
Yes, you may. Most government websites have a timeout period. This is done as a security measure. If you leave one website to go to another you may get timed out. If this happens you may need to sign in to that website again.
What is the DS Logon Account Request Portal?
The DS Logon Account Request Portal allows My HealtheVet users who have a Premium account to obtain a DS Logon Premium account. The My HealtheVet identity verification process proves a VA patient's identity. The Account Request Portal allows you to obtain a DS Logon Premium account without additional in-person validation.
The Department of Defense (DoD) Self-Service (DS) Logon is a secure, logon ID. A DS Logon is a credential (username and password) that is accepted by many DoD and VA self-service websites. If you are already registered in DEERS, you are eligible for a DS Logon.

What can I do if I have problems with my DS Logon account?
You can use the contact information found at the bottom of the My Access Center landing page if you have any questions regarding your DS Logon account.
What is DEERS?
DEERS stands for Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System. It is a worldwide, computerized record of uniformed Service members (sponsors), their family members, and others who are eligible for military benefits. Enrollment in DEERS is automatic for all Service members and Veterans who have served since 1982. Those who served prior to 1982 are being added from VA/DoD records.
